SPIKES K9 FUND:

Spike's K9 Fund is a federally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to serving active and retired working canines all over the nation. The mission of the organization is to keep canines safe and efficient in their job by providing them with protective vests and equipment. Spike's K9 Fund also provides critical medical treatment to help the canine return to work or to live out their retirement days in complete health. After all, with the time that they've served for us, don't they deserve it?

JAMES STORY:

Spike's K9 Fund was founded by James Hatch, a retired Special Warfare Operator. As a K9 handler on several deployments, James’ life was regularly spared by the work of K9s, one of the most memorable was Spike. And on James’ final deployment—the night he was critically wounded—a K9 spared James’ life while losing his own. From that evening on, James oriented his life around the training, care, and preservation of working dogs. In addition to working as the founder and president of the fund, he works with local law enforcement and has adopted a former service dog in need of medical attention.

ABOUT WORKING K9’s:

A working K9 is typically a breed bred for its dexterity, ability to focus, intelligence and athleticism. Once selected for work, that K9 will undergo rigorous training for tasks such as apprehending suspected criminals and sniffing out narcotics or explosives.

When the K9 is ready to work, there’s been significant, essential cost and time invested into their conditioning to ensure they’re an asset to their team as well as to reduce the risk of harm to themselves and others when working.

The Needs:

- Leading-edge gear for their protection in violent or disaster situations,

- equipment to help their crew be more effective, and;

- medical care when they become sick or injured.

The organization that these K9s work for has to make a difficult and often detrimental decision of whether the cost of the need outweighs the cost of the specialized K9. Your support is highly appreciated and will absolutely help. Thank you!

Their goal for 2018 is to help at least 750 canines. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Make a donation HERE
