My Trip Up the Tallest Mountain Peak East of the Mississippi…and YES THERE WERE BEARS!!

Last weekend I went on a beautiful little hike to Mount Mitchell, the tallest mountain peak east of the Mississippi River, just a little bit outside Asheville, North Carolina. The summit is 6,684 ft (a mile is 5,280 ft mind you) and although there weren’t many people there (thank youuuu social distancing) I did saw not ONE but TWO BLACK BEARS (from the safety of inside my car hehe, but still an exciting moment for me!)

On our drive up the mountain, we drove for almost twenty minutes in a cloud, which was beautiful and exhilarating but also slightly terrifying. All in all, it was a trip I’ll remember forever!
