Be a part of the largest fundraising event in Hampton Roads!

Give Local 757 brings together our community to raise funds for local nonprofits and to increase awareness for their causes. On May 3, 2016 the event raised $610,000 in just 24 hours for 223 local nonprofits. We received donations from every state in the country and from as far away as Hong Kong. On May 9, 2017, our goal is to raise $1,000,000!

How it works...

For 24 hours, beginning at midnight on May 9, everyone can be a philanthropist by donating online or by mailing a check to the Peninsula Community Foundation to registered Give Local 757 nonprofits. Donations will be amplified with $55,000 in prizes! Choose a cause, give great and help us transform our community by supporting one or more of the 200+ Hampton Roads nonprofits.

The featured non-profit we would like to showcase is :PLAN BEE ACADEMY!

Lets help them reach their goal of $2,000 dollars on May 9th!

At Plan Bee Academy, they specialize in meeting the educational needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related disabilities. Their focus is on the whole child and his/her family. Instruction includes academics, job readiness skills, social skills, language skills, motor skills, life skills, and independent skills. All of these skills are taught using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with a focus on Verbal Behavior and decreasing behaviors that interfere with a child's success in the least restrictive environment. Their primary mission is to work together with children, youth and families with Autism and other related disabilities for continuous improvement in the quality of life for all those affected. They strive to make each and every student feel included, empowered and independent in all environments including the school, community and home.

This is accomplished by building an individualized educational program for each student by using appropriate curriculum and real life experiences matched to the student's needs and abilities. We collaborate with the families and placing divisions to determine appropriate goals and long term plans to achieve the highest level of independence and quality of life. We together create a positive learning experience and success for all students and families.

They offer an intensive, individualized program to include academic instruction based on the Virginia Standards of Learning in conjunction with community-based instruction, behavior-management, and related service collaboration. All students' Individualized Education Plan or Individualized Instructional Plan goals and objectives are monitored and followed over the course of the school year.

Their goal with each student is to return them to a less restrictive setting. This "transition" is a team decision that is determined in an IEP meeting and will include procedures and supports from Plan Bee Academy to increase the likelihood of success.
